Congratulations to Meeker Middle School teacher Micah Haven, the 2026 Washington Music Educator of the year!  

Now in his 16th year teaching music, he’s teaching two 2 jazz band classes, 5th grade beginning band, 6th, 7th and 8th grade band, and guitar at Meeker. 

Haven’s dedication and enthusiasm are returned in full by his students – especially members of the jazz band, who meet for class an hour before the regular school day just for the chance to work with him.

Haven said he appreciates opening students’ worlds through music and helping them learn to be themselves as they transition into young adulthood.
