“My Now, My Next" student success event set for May 15 at Mount Tahoma High School

Tacoma Public Schools will host the My Now, My Next student success event on Thursday, May 15, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Mount Tahoma High School. The event is open to all TPS students in grades 8–12 and their families.

The event will celebrate student success, introduce students and families to community resources, and offer individual support to seniors still working to complete their High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP).

Senior support

Completion of an individual HSBP is required to graduate from high school. This event is an opportunity for seniors to receive support and guidance on their plan, taking them one step closer to graduation.

Additionally, many seniors are eligible for free college tuition or job training through the College Bound Scholarship, but they have not yet completed their FAFSA. Families can receive one on one support with financial aid applications. Learn more about financial aid applications and the College Bound Scholarship.

Student celebrations and community connections

Through grant funding, provided by the Tacoma Education Dream Fund, this event aims to make High School and Beyond Planning more accessible. Students in grades 8 to 11 can get a head start on their plan and connect with community partners.

Student performances will be featured throughout the event. A variety of food trucks will provide free food and drinks to TPS students. Prizes will also be given away during the event, made possible by donations from community partners.

Students and families are encouraged to RSVP, this helps organizers prepare for the expected number of attendees.
