Filming Other Students Without Consent

For the safety of all our students please speak with your student(s) about filming other students without their permission.

See Something, Say Something

You may be aware of the school shooting at Seattle’s Ingraham High School this week. In response to that tragic event, we want to assure you that the safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority.

Our schools have comprehensive plans in place to ensure safe learning environments for all students, and we have strong relationships with our local law enforcement partners to reinforce our own safety practices.

You can find resources for talking to your children about their feelings after traumatic events here.

This is a good time to remind you of our joint campaign with law enforcement called, “See Something, Say Something.” Anyone who knows of a threat to any of our schools should immediately call 911. We are all partners in this work.

Menstrual Hygiene Products

A new state law requires menstrual hygiene products be available at no cost in schools.

By January, Tacoma Public Schools students in grades 6-12 will have access to free menstrual products in restrooms designated as female and gender neutral. If a secondary school doesn’t have gender-neutral bathrooms, products will be available in the health room or at least one bathroom accessible to males.

COVID Guidance Update

The Washington State Department of Health recently released updated COVID-19 guidance for childcare and K-12 schools. We will continue to follow the requirements and recommendations of the Department of Health.

The biggest change for schools is that staff and volunteers are no longer required to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

All students who test positive for COVID-19 are still required to isolate at home for at least five full days, regardless of vaccination status. They can return to school on day six if:

Get more COVID-related information, including information about where to get vaccinations and tests.

Northeast Tacoma Health Kids Coalition

Volunteers Needed: The Coalition is a PTA program and a partnership between local NE Tacoma schools, their PTAs, and school staff, to ensure the basic needs of students in our community are met. The Coalition started in 2017 and serves students attending Browns Point Elementary, Crescent Heights Elementary, NE Tacoma Elementary, Meeker Middle School, and Stadium High School who live in the 98422 area. Community volunteers pack and deliver kid-friendly weekend meal bags that are distributed through our local schools. There are lots of ways for you to be involved!

Do you own a business and are you looking to support our local schools? We are looking for sponsors to offset the cost of monthly truck rentals to pick up food. Sign up here to show your business’ support for our students:

We also need volunteers for November to help us pack weekend meal bags.  If you are interested, please sign up here:

Volunteer opportunities are for adults, high school students or middle school students accompanied by an adult.
