FLASH Unit Upcoming for 6th Graders
Tacoma Public Schools adopted the FLASH (Family Life and Sexual Health) curriculum for all students grades 5-12 in June 2018 in alignment with Policy 2125, Policy 2126, and Regulation 2126. Your student will participate in lessons from the FLASH curriculum this week of June 13 – 16th.
This updated curriculum (FLASH) was selected by a team of TPS Educators, Family Members, Community Members, and Health Professionals. Below is information about the FLASH Curriculum. You can preview the curriculum on the secure Family App. (Click on your student’s photo and the tab towards the bottom of the page labeled “Sexual Health Opt Out”)
After previewing the curriculum, if you do not want your child to participate in the classes you can fill out the opt-out waiver on the Family App. Alternative learning experiences, unrelated to Sexual Health, will be provided to students who have submitted waivers from their Parent/Guardian.

Volunteers and Donations Needed
The 8th Grade Party Planning Committee has a fun celebration planned for our 8th graders on Friday, June 17th from 7 to 9 pm. To make this an extra special event, we need in kind donations of decorations, food, and even items you can loan us from home. Please show your support for our 8th graders by considering purchasing and/ or donating items from our Sign Up Genius here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0e49acad2ca7f8ce9-meeker1 All donations must arrive by Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Thank you!
We also need volunteers! All volunteers must have current volunteer paperwork on file with the Meeker office in order to volunteer at these events.
Meeker 8th Grade AAA celebration is on Tuesday June 21st from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. Meeker PTSA is looking to revitalize the tradition of 7th grade families shopping for, setting up, and serving the refreshments at this event so that the families of our 8th graders can relax and enjoy the celebration. (and then next year, future 7th grade families will pay back the favor). Help us recruit 7th grade families to volunteer for this event here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E49ACAD2CA7F8CE9-aaarefreshment
